About the speaker: Anne Rose Kitagawa is an art historian specializing in East Asian art. With degrees from Oberlin College and Princeton University, she worked at the Art Institute of Chicago, Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and Harvard Art Museums. In 2010, she moved to Eugene and became the Chief Curator of Collections & Asian Art, and Director of Academic Programs at the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art at the University of Oregon. There she oversees large collections of Chinese, Korean, and Japanese art. Her recent projects include an exhibition of Japanese American artist Roger Shimomura, a bilingual publication about the JSMA’s Korean collection, and catalogues on postwar Japanese prints and contemporary Japanese mezzotints. Future projects include a Chinese propaganda catalogue, an exhibition of contemporary Chinese photography and mixed-media works by Chinese American artist Hung Liu, and a retrospective of Japanese American artist Masami Teraoka. |
