Welcome back! For our opening program of the season - come join First Saturday PDX for a historical narrative of an often overlooked part of Portland’s history: women who contributed significantly to the development of the region.
Based on their recent book, Notable Women of Portland (Images of America), historian Dr. Tracy Prince and her daughter, researcher Zadie Schaffer, will share historical narratives of women who radically changed the Oregon frontier to what it is today. These women's stories, often uncovered or ignored, inhabit more than 10,000 years of Native American, pioneer, Progressive Era, World War I, World War II, and post-war history, as well as arts and politics. The program will highlight contributions by Chinese American women. |
